To continue my Easter story, I kind of liked the nice hot weather in Lisbon and decided to prolong our stay by 1 more night. We decided to change hotels from Dom Pedro Palace and hop off to the gorgeous Sofitel Lisbon. What do I regret about this decision? The fact that I only got to stay in there for less than 12 hours, as our flight was at 6 am the next morning. Sofitel Lisbon is a stunner.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the room we got was to die for.
The hotel is modern, however keeping classic elements in its decor. It pays tribute to Portugal’s Eastern and Africa discoveries back in the day by incorporating a lot of red and gold into its interior.
Reception were really kind and even offered to make us breakfast at 4 am and deliver it to the room, so we can enjoy it before we fly away. It was such a shame, we overslept and didn’t get to try this out.
My notes on the room. I have always dreamt to have a room with my own sun chairs, with my own huge terrace, when I go to a hotel. Sofitel Lisbon provided that without me even asking, like they read my mind. The moment I opened the door to the room, I was seriously considering to call work and let them know I have decided to reside in Lisbon as of now.
You obviously got by now how excited I was about the terrace. A TV in a golden frame and a coffee machine just made my life complete. This is one more time where I flag that hotels at a certain star rating should always have a coffee machine in the room, as the most annoying thing is to have to call Room Service for a coffee and wait for 20 minutes for its arrival.
We had welcome sweets and a very kind note from the hotel, so thank you guys.
Full length mirrors were positioned around the room and on doors.
The bed was big and fluffy. Obviously the highlight was the outdoors part of the room. I mean once you have a terrace, what would you do inside anyway?
As you can see, the terrace was big enough to host a party on, with beautiful views and really secluded, so nosy eyes can’t see anything.
The bar is in the lobby area and is a cosy, private space. We got some cocktails and enjoyed an early night to be honest, knowing we had to wake up at 4 am the next day. I had the Ginger Spritz and it was one of the most refreshing things I have tried.
We had room service for dinner, in bed, and I got the Portuguese pizza which was really yum.
The restaurant looked really nice and as far as I understood it comes highly recommended and even other hotels send their guests to it, as the cuisine is superb. So if you are around, definitely try it on.
This hotel is in the posh area. Avenida Da Liberdade, is where Prada and Mont Blanc live, and is the Lisbon equivalent to Bond street. You can walk from there, anywhere you want, and if you are into shopping you are in the right place.
