Sofitel Budapest was our home for Christmas in 2017. Driving up to the hotel in the taxi was indicative of the view but the moment I walked into the room – oh boy. It was stunning. I will recommend a stay in the hotel, purely to see the sunset from there.
Check in was really smooth and friendly, the room was on the 5th floor. The hotel has a funky interior, it kind of feels like a mega hotel in Asia with the lined up doors and just the sheer size of it. The lifts give a cool view when you go up and down the floors, so guess what I entertained myself with the first day? 🙂
The rooms are dated, so do not expect a wow from the inside but the view is what you pay for. The rooms are a decent size though, so at least it is not a tiny, old room 🙂 The bathrooms are new. Love the Lanvin toiletries.
There is a lounge access on the top floor if you are a member. The view from there was fab too. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served there too, which is nice given the size of the hotel, it was a more intimate experience compared to the main breakfast area on the ground floor.
I tried the spa and the facilities too. I had a body scrub treatment and it was amazing, worth every penny (it wasn’t even expensive to be honest compared to London). My therapist was really good and sweet, spoke perfect English and gave me an amazing massage to end the treatment. I genuinely felt like a newborn afterwards.
The pool area is big and quiet, there is a steam room and sauna, as well as a relaxation area with light therapy. I spent half a day there and it was super relaxing.
The wifi does not work very well, which is a bit frustrating in 2017/8.
I would say this hotel is OK but it depends what the price is. I kind of feel there are options to have the view and not pay crazy money either?
