I was honoured when I received an invite to preview the Masterpiece Art Fair 2017. Running since 2010, the fair has established itself as one of the must visit events in the art world. It combines classics with modern day works of art, like no other. It is visited by approximately 40,000 people every year, so you can imagine how excited I was to have private access for a morning, and admire beauty with just a few other select guests.
This year, Masterpiece London takes place between 28 June and 4 July, so you still have time to visit. It is centrally located, within the beautiful The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Embankment way.
The fair allows visitors to admire but also purchase the unique pieces within the venue. What can I say, if I could, I would. However for now, I would like to take you on a visual journey of the fair, without people in sight.
Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a very spectacular, contemporary installation by renowned Chilean artist Ivan Navarro.
‘Navarro is known internationally for his socio-politically charged sculptures of neon, fluorescent and incandescent light. He represented Chile at the 53rd Venice Biennale and his work is held in major public and private collections around the world.’ Masterpiece, 2017
Before I start, I want to show you my personal ‘belle of the ball‘. It is not my best image, as there was a strong reflection from the opposite side. However, I feel like this photograph says a million things at once. It touched my heart and soul, and I hope one day I can spend more time with it.
Welcome to Masterpiece London 2017:
We first had a quick coffee and bite at the beautiful garden bar at the back.
Dreaming of dining or lunching under crystal chandeliers? Well then, you are in the right spot. No detail has been missed within the Fair, ensuring beauty and a touch of glamour on every step.
