I have been going to Hipzone for the past 5 years. It is one of those places, that is privately owned and the staff does not change. This is something so rare for London that I guess it is the reason why I have not looked for a new hairdresser. Also, it is one of those places where they have it all: hair, nails, beauty, massages and wine. Owned by Michiu and Clement, positioned right opposite Kensington Olympia, it is a little gem in the West Kensington area.
I love the fact that when I get in they always offer me drinks, and no judgement if I want to drink wine at 10 am 🙂
Is it cheap? No, however it is not super expensive either. I find it absolutely fairly priced for the service. I also like the fact that they do not try to be oh so fancy like some of the high street chains. They make me feel comfortable and to be honest they have always delivered quality, and trust me I have done all kinds of stuff to my hair.
I found it so challenging to find a hairdresser in London. There are so many, everywhere, and so few who are good at it. The first year of my London adventure, I passed through stages of disastrous hairdressing skills, so I was so happy once I found Michiu at Hipzone.
I think her best skill is colour – she has created art out of my hair when I got the brilliant idea I wanted highlights. She knows how to mix colours and what are the best tones for the person’s skin.
They offer loyalty cards, which give you a free treatment every 12 stamps I think. You can get a mani or a blow dry for free.
They offer all kinds of waxing and beautifying services which are carried out in the underground level. Candles, dark tones and relaxing music. It is clean and quick if you want to swing by for a quick one after work. I also love the fact that they are open late and weekends. Ask for Waylin, she is the best.
If you are in the area give it a try, you can find out more about their prices and opening hours here.
