I have been eyeing the country house hotel for some time now. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, Widbrook Grange is located in Bradford on Avon, a stone throw away from Bath. Driving from Central London takes about 2 hours, most of it is on a motor way but that is not the exciting part. The exciting part is driving around the winding roads ofΒ  the countryside. OK, I must add that I got the pleasure of doing this in a Morgan, so it added to the overall beauty of the experience. Widbrook Grange is slightly outside of the…

Here we go, I said it. Casa del Mar is seriously the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Stop looking if you are going to Santa Monica and just book it, you won’t regret it. That actually means something coming from me I feel. Having spent years working in hotels and traveling around, I think that I have a big enough base to compare. So far, this is my life choice and the place I would like to stay every time I go to LA. The location: Right off Santa Monica Pier and the beach. It is a 5…

West London is my jam and yet I just discovered this beautiful enclave in the heart of Knightsbridge – The Franklin Hotel. Nestled 5 min walk from Harrods, its private entrance ensures that you can disappear from prying eyes, the moment you step in. The hotel offers 35 bedrooms, split across 3 town houses. The back opens to a beautifully manicured private garden, where you can have your morning coffee. The check in area is unique. Gorgeous marble tables sit on both sides of the hallway and the receptionists just hang gout there with their brand new Macs, checking guests…

Ljubljana was an unplanned quick stop for me this winter. It has taken ages to write this post but I really wanted to share my experience about the town and my stay at Intercontinental as well. Because both were freakin fabulous and I absolutely loved Slovenian hospitality, the beautiful city and the yum food. Intercontinental Ljubljana is a 5 star luxury hotel just a l5 minute walk to the city centre and beautiful old town. Super modern rooms and facilities,Β  including a 360 degree view of the city from the pool on the 18th floor, it is a true gem.…

Hotel Esplanade Zagreb is right at the entrance of the city centre, perfect location. It is a representation of Eastern European luxury and glamour, and being Eastern European myself I obviously loved it. As I was doing a small central/Eastern European trip, I travelled from Budapest to Zagreb and although not a significant distance, boy do you get a different level of luxury for your buck. Unlike the Sofitel in Budapest, the Esplande Zagreb was stunning inside and out. Rich marble decor in the lobby (which might be a bit too shiny) but I felt it was delicately balanced by…

Sofitel Budapest was our home for Christmas in 2017. Driving up to the hotel in the taxi was indicative of the view but the moment I walked into the room – oh boy. It was stunning. I will recommend a stay in the hotel, purely to see the sunset from there. Check in was really smooth and friendly, the room was on the 5th floor. The hotel has a funky interior, it kind of feels like a mega hotel in Asia with the lined up doors and just the sheer size of it. The lifts give a cool view when…

It seems fitting to write this post today. Looking out the window and seeing London getting covered in fresh, fluffy snow, it seems only fitting to talk about warm memories. The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica is an interesting architectural and historic gem. I love staying in hotels with character and history. This usually makes it tough for me to find one that I like in the US, given the love to modernity. When I saw The Georgian Hotel, I knew this was the place I wanted to stay in. The facade stands out from miles away and there was…

Artist Residence is a 10 bedroom hotel nestled in the heart of Pimlico. The building of the hotel dates back to 1852 and was designed by Thomas Cubitt himself. The hotel is unique, the collection of carefully selected furniture and accessories make it a creative gem. It is easy to go into a creative black hole sometimes and finding places such as Artist Residence, gives me inspiration. I was just editing the images from the day I visited and although it is relatively late while I sit and write this, I feel more awake than before I played with the…

I had the opportunity to stay in Hotel Wellington Madrid in August. I am a sucker for hotels with a classic decor. It reminds of the days when travel was glamorous. Kind of that scene in Mad Men, where Don and Betty go to the Plaza in NYC and everything is just old Hollywood glam. Although, given that I worked in the hotel industry for some time, I should remind myself that times have changed and not everything that glitters is gold. I really do not want to bash hotels. However, I also value my money and if I am…

While cruising through summer in London, I am remembering some of my warm travels from previous months. As you know I visited Cortona back in the end of May and I absolutely loved the city. I stayed in Palazzo Tommasi. I have long wondered if I should write this post, as I have such mixed feelings about this stay. It is primarily a confusion as to what it says on the tin and what it actually was. I feel my whole, Florence and the surroundings hotel experiences, were a bit mismatched but I owe to share it with you guys.…
