One cannot go to Santa Monica and not visit The Ivy at the shore. Well, you can but you at least need to take a picture with it. Why? Because it probably is the prettiest facade in all of LA. I am kind of assuming it is inspired by our Chelsea favourite – The Ivy on King’s Road. The Ivy at the shore in located right on Ocean Avenue and next to the Santa Monica pier.

Anyway, we went for full on brunch and here is what I think. Before I start though, I want to give a shout out to my travel companion. He is not a blogger or Instagrammer but really went along with all my demands for pictures, and not touching the food until I did not take the perfect photo. Also, thanks for actually recommend this place. You are a true trooper 🙂
You do not seem to need a booking to do breakfast/brunch, so you can just walk in. Dinner seems to be a little bit more serious and you need a booking.
The venue is just colours, flowers and more colours. It feels like a positive and happy place. The plates and cups have the coolest patterns, adding to the colourful vibe.
Welcome is great. Service is a bit weird compared to The Ivy in London. The waiters are really in a rush all the time and produce words a million miles a second. When we arrived there were literally 4 tables, so I did not feel there was the need to be really stressed about anything.
I got a cappuccino and honestly it was the biggest cup containing coffee, I have ever seen in my life. I had the pancakes (obviously, I am in the US) and my friend had the eggs and some smoothie.
The food arrives pretty quickly, and is accompanied by scones and cream. The portions are huge, so do go really hungry.
I overall loved chilling outside in the garden, it is very pretty. I will let you judge if it is overpriced for it is based on the images and a bill of $90 for breakfast for 2 😉
